About me
Tisha Brown is Co-Chair of Powell Law Group’s Special Education Practice Group. Her multifaceted background in education and law positions her as an invaluable advocate for children's educational rights and a key resource for school districts. Her journey from teaching to parenting a child with special needs to school administration and ultimately to specializing in school law provides her with a holistic understanding of the challenges faced by educational institutions at various levels.
With her deep understanding of the challenges and complexities faced by school districts, Tisha provides legal counsel and representation on a wide range of issues related to special education, student discipline, Title IX enforcement, employment law, school policies, constitutional rights, and other legal areas that impact educational institutions. She regularly represents clients in due process hearings before the State Office of Administrative Hearings, before the Texas Education Agency and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights.
Tisha's commitment extends beyond her professional duties as she actively engages with her community, dedicating her time and expertise to provide professional development, support educational initiatives and mentor aspiring educators. She serves as an adjunct professor in the Texas Principal Leadership Academy at the University of Texas at Austin. Her involvement in state and national conferences as a speaker and presenter further demonstrates her dedication to sharing insights and expertise with fellow educators.
